I have to agree with Brian. You could have a good page here. I’m 10 minutes into looking for a tool like this and I have already found elsewhere that Keka is available free if I don’t go to the App Store and that AES-256 encryption is off by default for Zip files but is the default encryption for 7Zip format.
Your article is the ‘best 5’ and I count 10. Then the list says some applications are from $0.99 to $29.99 and others are from $0.00 to $10.00.
A simple matrix of formats, features and prices at the top of the article would be useful. This is a list, which is slightly useful, but it basically says the same thing about each thing. Which ones are faster?
Use less memory? Support (or fail to support) a useful format? Have better or worse Finder integration? Install process? Commandline usable? Any weird fancy features like, compress an app into a package? Multi-cpu parallel threaded?
Work on large data like an entire drive image? Locked file handling? Delta backups? There are any number of things that an archiver might offer. I have no way to choose between them from this article. I’d have to actually try them all, which I can do, but then what was your job if not to do that for us and write your findings?
A simple list of available apps was already available by plain google.
Top 10 Best Mac Antivirus Software 2019 There is always a question whether Mac computers need antivirus, however as many Mac users may or may not be aware Mac computers DO benefit from using antivirus software and there are many versions available that will go a long way to keeping your Mac safe and virus free. Here at TheTop10Antivirus.com we have trawled the internet to find the best mac antivirus software providers to help you keep your Mac clean from unwanted viruses. Take a look at our list today and make a decision who you feel is the best antivirus for your mac. We receive advertising revenue from some of the antivirus software we showcase more information. You might of heard the myth that if you own/use a Mac then you don’t have to worry about using an antivirus as you can’t get any viruses. Worryingly, this idea is still surprisingly popular. Malware developers are less likely to target a Mac user as they cover a much smaller market (around 25% of all computer users) compared to Windows (with over 50% market coverage) this automatically makes Windows machines much more attractive to them - the more machines they can target the more information they can steal, which could potentially lead to more money for them. In addition, Apple has developed multiple security measures into their operating system to make it much more challenging for a malware writer to cause any damage.
These include, Gatekeeper, which automatically blocks any 3rd party software (that hasn’t been digitally signed and approved by Apple) from installing itself on your Mac. The safest way to download programs is directly through the App store.
These apps are guaranteed to be digitally signed and checked off. If you do want to install a program downloaded elsewhere then you’ll have to manually approve the software. Nonetheless, there was a massive security flaw called Rootpipe in early 2014, which allowed a hacker to take complete control of your Mac computer. This issue wasn’t fixed until early 2015!
Can you imagine how many Macs were affected in this amount of time? Apple are known to be slow when it comes to fixing security issues or malware attacks, maybe because they believe their systems are safe and so don’t have a dedicated team to deal with these kind of issues. They also have only fixed Yosemite and later operating systems, which is typical of Apple - they tend to write off and stop support for older hardware relatively early compared to other tech giants, in the hope that consumers will upgrade. Of course not everyone is going to do this so a large proportion of Mac users are still vulnerable to this kind of attack. So if you’re reading this on an unprotected Mac you’re probably thinking, what’s the best mac antivirus for me and how do I get it? Please visit thetop10antivirus.com where you can find out about the top 10 antivirus suites - you can compare all the features and also view the pricing plans. Nowadays, because people have recognised that Mac users aren’t necessarily secure on the internet, nearly all av companies have accommodated for Mac antivirus, but be sure to check the feature set before deciding on a security suite.
Free antivirus software is very popular - some packages simply offer enough protection for the average user without having to part with any of your hard-earned cash. However, what defines an average user? The short answer is that we can’t define an average user and always believe safety should always come first. So, is a free antivirus for your Mac sufficient or should you contemplate upgrading to a paid version? There are a lot of drawbacks with free AV software from display ads and pop-ups to limited features and reduced performance, so why would anyone choose to put up with this? The main drawback to upgrading is of course, cost.
Some people don’t spend enough time on their PC to justify spending money on software that they can get for free. Free software packages often lack additional features that can prevent viruses, such as advanced financial protection, spam filters, firewalls and browser protection. Not only that they can become obtrusive on your system with reminders/pop-ups of upgrading to a paid version. Free anti-virus software equates significant cost savings, which is appealing to cost-conscious costumers. Avast and AVG offer free acceptable protection at no cost at all. The choice between free and paid anti-virus software comes down to the user’s activities. If you tend to use your computer to play offline games like solitaire, to create documents and have limited internet access then a free anti-virus will probably suffice.
On the other hand, if you are a heavy online user that accesses internet banking and social media sites everyday, a free version will not cut it.
